Peace
(MartinFG Reynolds)
Let peace come in
through my door
when it comes knocking;
and I am predisposed;
sitting on my throne.
Alone.
But not forlorn.
“Come in.”
I call;
through the crack in the wall;
that separates man and beasts.
“Do you bring good tidings?”
I want to know.
Or. Should I just ignore you;
and let you go;
so I may carry on with important things;
like sitting on a throne.
Alone.
But not forlorn.
Oh peace!
Friend of the forsaken.
Bend your lofty head to the ground.
Better to see us here.
Alone.
But not forlorn.
Do you see
how the walls have crumbled;
with the messages that came;
from canons and drones.
Dropped. Splattering the dust
with gifts of death and destruction?
Alone.
But not forlorn.
Where were you then?
Why did you not come;
to us with the salvation
of your promises?
Yes. You. Peace.
It is to you I pose this question.
The Nobel ones keep their Nobility;
in the midst of all this strife;
they remain Noble.
While we are.
Alone.
But not forlorn.
Who will sing Lullabys
to children whos parents are covered;
by bricks of broken walls;
concrete filling their mouths;
dinner for dead forgotten people.
Alone.
But not forlorn.
Tell the Nobles to come;
and look upon this truth.
Let it stare them in their eyes;
like looking into the eyes of elephants;
who never forgets.
Alone.
But not forlorn.
Let this memory
become engraved in the brains;
of their Nobility;
and their Nobel-ness.
You! Peace!
This is my charge to you!
You and all your lofty lot!
We are alone.
But not forlorn.
We still sing!
We still dance!
We still love!
We still embrace!
We still have sex!
We still reproduce!
We still continue!
